The Start of the Season
We got off to a fine start with plenty of interest and enthusiasm being shown in the opening events despite the cold weather.
16th April - We had our recruitment drive for new members. The coaches took the group of potential new bowlers and showed them the ropes.
23rd April - The club official opening was marked, as usual, with the Opening Drive which takes the form of the 'Spider' and is played for a bottle of whisky This was folllowed with 12 ends of bowling to help us into the swing of the new season. 53 members took part!
27th April - We had our first social roll up of the season, followed by a fish and chip supper
29th April - The Ladies had their own social roll up followed by tea and biscuits.
The weahther was grey on June 4th with rain in the morning. This might have spoiled the party but in true BSM tradition, bowlers arrived in red, white and blue and played novelty bowls all afternoon. There were lots of laughs on the green and it was followed by a fabulous high tea. The bowls were otgamised by Tug and Anne Wilson, the food was organised by Lady Captain Jacqui Hill and her supporting team of ladies and John Hudson did a brisk trade inthe bar.
