Winter Social Programme
Everyone enjoys the season which , although it was extended this year because of the exceptionally fine weather, ended all too soon. Howeever, there are consolations in the shape of the various winter social activities which have proliferated this year, partly because of our growth in membership.
We started with a Ceilidh evening in October which was held at a local holiday camp. Almost a hundred people bought tickets and came to enjoy the music of 'Black Velvet'. This was followed by a five-day 'turkey and tinsel' trip to Newquay which included a visit to the Eden Project.Photos
The regular Friday night skittles evenings continue, as popular as ever. They provide an opportunity for people to keep in touch as they compete for the cup that is awarded as the new season starts. We have a new programme of winter socials starting with an Italian evening in November. The Clubhouse will be transformed into an Italian restaurant serving lasagne and garlic bread. This will be followed by a quiz and a variety of games. Photos
Regular social roll ups at the Derwent Hotel are already underway as are the Ladies' coffee mornings each of which revolves around a demonstration of a craft.
We have a reputation as a warm and welcoming club and the willingness of members to get involved in the organisation of bowling and social activities bears this out.
